San Benito County, CA
Home Menu150th Anniversary
The County of San Benito was founded on February 12, 1874 from a section of Monterey. Sections of Merced and Fresno were later reassigned to San Benito County due to community growth. Initially it was created with only threes supervisorial districts but in 1883 California legislature established a uniform system leading to a five member county board of supervisors, each representing an equal population of county citizens. San Benito County (pop. 62,808) maintains a rural feel while offering a strong sense of community and historic charm in the County’s two incorporated cities and three unincorporated towns.
