Ad Hoc Committees as defined below are statutorily exempt (not subject to Brown Act).
To be exempt, the committee must be:

  • Comprised only of 2 Board members
  • Must be an advisory committee
  • Must be a temporary committee, not a “Standing Committee”
  • Must not have a continuing subject matter jurisdiction over a certain subject (such as budget)
  • Must not have a fixed meeting schedule
