In lieu of incarceration, the Jail Division of the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office has an inmate Work Alternative Program. The program is known to most as C.A.P or Custody Alternative Program.

To qualify for C.A.P. the person must have received a jail sentence of 30 days or less. Registration for the program is done by appointment only. Please call 831-902-8945 to schedule an appointment.  There are fees associated with the program which are paid when you come in for your appointment.  

When you call for your appointment have your court paperwork available. The deputy will advise you the total amount due at the time of your appointment. Cash or money orders are accepted for the exact amount due-we cannot make change. Money orders MUST be made out to San Benito County Sheriff and be for the exact amount due.  The registration process takes approximately 30 minutes.

The program accepts court commitments from other Counties only if a reciprocity agreement is on file with that county.

The program is located at the County Jail. The address is 710 Flynn Road, Hollister, CA. and operates everyday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

C.A.P inmates must report to the jail at 7:15 a.m. on scheduled dates. Return time is around 3:30 p.m. Transportation to and from the work site is the responsibility of the jail staff or delegated county employees.
