Free Quarterly Recycle Day events are held four times a year for residents to safely dispose of their household hazardous waste, mattresses, tires, and electronic waste. Proof of residency is required. Limits apply.

Monthly Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Events
Every Third Saturday of the Month from 9am - 12pm
John Smith Rd Landfill, 2650 John Smith Rd, Hollister, CA 95023
Free Monthly HHW events are held every third Saturday of the month at John Smith Road Landfill for residents to safely dispose of their hazardous waste. Proof of residency is required. Limits apply. Click here for additional details and accepted items.

Hazardous waste (HW) items are labeled with warnings of poison, danger, caution, warning, or precautionary statements.
This can include, but is not limited to the following items:

House: |
Ammonia Based Cleaners, Bleach Based Cleaners, Aerosol Sprays, Polishes, Fluorescent Lamps, Nail Polish & Remover, Medications & Syringes, Batteries |

Not Accepted: |
Explosives, Ammunition, Radioactive Waste, Biological Waste (syringes & lancets must be in an approved Sharps container available free to San Benito County residents). |
