Making it Easier to Build an ADU

The County of San Benito in collaboration with CallistonRTKL have developed pre-approved Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) plans to encourage the construction of ADUs in the County. Plans can be downloaded from this page at no charge. Please download and review all associated documents with each plan set. These plans are not applicable in the cities of San Juan Bautista and Hollister.

Before You Start

Review the San Benito ADU Handbook for guidance in building an ADU on your property. To familiarize yourself with State and local ADU regulations, review the California HCD’s ADU Handbook and our Zoning Code pertaining to ADUs.

Please fill out the voluntary ADU Rental Survey. Your responses will help the County better understand ADU rental trends and inform future housing policies. All responses are voluntary and will be reported only in aggregate.
