The Office of the County Counsel provides legal advice to the San Benito County Board of Supervisors, County Departments and Agencies, and certain Commissions, Committees and Special Districts.  The Office represents and advises the Board of Supervisors and all County officers in matters of law pertaining to their offices; represents and appears for the County in actions or proceedings in which the County is concerned or is a party; and represents and appears for any County officer or employee, or former County employee, in actions and proceedings in which such officer or employee is concerned or is a party for acts arising out of their employment or by reason of their official capacity. 

The Office approves the form of all contracts made by and all bonds and certificates of insurance given to the County and prepares all proposed ordinances or resolutions for the County and amendments thereto.
