Mission
The Assessor’s primary task is to determine the taxable value (assessment) of all real and personal property within the county and for preparing the regular and supplemental property tax rolls with integrity and fairness in accordance with the California Constitution and laws and regulations of the State of California and State Board of Equalization. The Assessor’s Office serves the taxpayers of San Benito County with respect; we strive to perform our work in a professional, reliable and cost effective manner. My staff and I welcome all contacts from the public regarding assessment practices in San Benito County. Property tax laws are frequently complicated and many times require detailed explanations. This office is organized around the principle of, “How can we help you”. This philosophy might collide with the general opinion of government held by some people, but this office is genuinely interested in setting the correct assessed property values and assisting property owners.
