The Sheriff may issue a permit to carry a concealed weapon pursuant to Penal Code section 12050(a)(I). The Sheriff is not required to issue a concealed weapon permit nor does the applicant have a right to such a permit. California law has established a criteria to be examined prior to the Sheriff issuing a concealed weapon’s permit. Good Cause is not required.
All San Benito County residents and businesses are required to obtain an explosives permit. Download the following two packets:
To request an explosives permit, complete the downloaded forms and return them to the Sheriff’s Office at 2301 Technology Parkway, Hollister, CA 95023 by mail or in person.
Read the attached letter and make an appointment as detailed in the letter.

Motorists traveling through the US 101 and SR 25 interchange area should be aware of upcoming construction activities and a scheduled nighttime lane closure.
Lane Closure Alert– Northbound US 101 #1 Lane (the far-left-lane).
- Northbound US 101 Lane #1 (the far-left lane) will be CLOSED on the night of Monday, May 11, between 10:00 PM and 5:00 AM, while crews perform overnight concrete work on the retaining wall.
What to expect:
- Reduced lanes and possible delays
- Construction equipment and crews working close to traffic
- Use caution and follow posted signage
Ongoing Construction Activities (May 5–15)
Drivers may see crews working throughout the corridor, including:
- Bridge construction for the new connector ramps
- Retaining wall construction near US 101
- Drainage and utility installation
- Roadway grading and base work
Most work will occur during daytime hours, with occasional nighttime operations.
Travel Tips
- Allow extra travel time, especially at night
- Slow down in work zones
- Be alert for lane shifts and construction crews
- Consider alternate routes if traveling during nighttime work hours

Los automovilistas que viajan por el área de intersección de la US 101 y la SR 25 deben estar al tanto de las próximas actividades de construcción y de un cierre de carril nocturno programado. Alerta de Cierre de Carril – Carril #1 en dirección norte en la US 101 (el carril más a la izquierda)
- El carril #1 hacia el norte en la US 101 (el carril más a la izquierda) estará CERRADO en la noche del lunes 11 de mayo, de 10:00 PM a 5:00 AM, mientras los equipos realizan trabajos nocturnos de concreto en el muro de contención.
Qué esperar:
- Carriles reducidos y posibles retrasos
- Equipos y brigadas de construcción trabajando cerca del tráfico
- Use precaución y siga la señalización
Actividades de Construcción en Curso (5–15 de mayo)
Los conductores pueden ver a los equipos trabajando a lo largo del corredor, incluyendo:
