Supervisor Dom Zanger Unanimously Voted Chair of San Benito County Board  

SAN BENITO COUNTY, CA – Supervisory District 1’s Dom Zanger has been unanimously voted Chair, with Supervisor Ignacio Velazquez as Vice Chair, of the San Benito County Board of Supervisors in a vote held yesterday, January 13, 2026, marking a significant milestone for the young leader’s growing influence in county governance.  

First elected in November 2022, Zanger made history as one of the youngest county supervisors in California at age 26. He won his seat by a narrow margin of 158 votes and quickly established himself as an advocate for rural preservation.  

At the time of his election, Zanger emphasized the importance of agritourism and responsible development, cautioning against unchecked expansion that could turn San Benito County into a suburban extension of larger cities.  

In his new role as Chair, Zanger will lead the Board’s policy discussions and oversee key initiatives throughout 2026. Reflecting on his election, Zanger said:  

“I’m thrilled to have been voted in as Chair of the board and eager to continue getting work done for our county.”  

The Board of Supervisors anticipates a productive 2026, with Chair Dom Zanger and fellow supervisors working collaboratively to advance county priorities, support responsible growth, and serve residents across San Benito County.
