San Benito County Board of Supervisors Honors Local Veterans and Supports Operation Green Light

Hollister, CA- November 4, 2025- The San Benito County Board of Supervisors proudly approved a series of actions at the recent Board of Supervisors Meeting to recognize and support local veterans as part of the nationwide Operation Green Light for Veterans initiative.

At the meeting, the Board took the following actions:

  1. Received a Presentation from the Veterans Services Officer on the current annual veteran data for San Benito County, highlighting outreach efforts and the services available to the local veteran community.
  2. Adopted a Resolution Supporting Operation Green Light for Veterans, reaffirming the County’s commitment to recognizing and honoring those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.
  3. Approved Certificates of Recognition for American Legion Post 69 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9242 in acknowledgment of their dedicated service and contributions to the San Benito County community.
  4. Directed County Building and Grounds Maintenance Staff to light County buildings green using projections, flood lights, or green filters to demonstrate solidarity with veterans.

Board of Supervisors Mindy Sotelo stated, “Veterans hold a special place in my heart. Lighting our buildings green is a small but powerful gesture to let every veteran know that San Benito County stands with them. We are deeply grateful for their courage, service, and sacrifice.”

Operation Green Light aims to honor our nation’s veterans and raise awareness of the vital role counties play in providing essential services to them. This Veterans Day, consider joining the movement and lighting buildings or residents green from November 4–11, 2025.

San Benito County residents, businesses, and community organizations are encouraged to participate by changing one light to a green bulb. By shining a green light, we send a clear message to our veterans that they are seen, appreciated, and supported.

To demonstrate the County’s commitment, the San Benito County Administration Building and the Office of Emergency Services will be illuminated in green from November 4 through November 11, 2025, in honor of all those who have served.
